DIABETES UK - DAVENTRY & DISTRICT AREA GROUP

Farewells.  At the AGM in December Barbara Kember resigned as Secretary after a decade in which her drive and enthusiasm has played a major role in founding and maintaining the Group.  We thank Barbara for all the work she did and send her our best wishes.

At the same time another stalwart resigned from the Committee.  Derrick Clarke had also served the Group from its inception and had held various posts, notably as Chairman for a time.  We thank Derrick for all he has done and will do since he has agreed to help out at fundraising events.

The new Committee.  At the AGM Dr Ann Kilvert and Dr Chris Lovatt agreed to continue as President and Vice President respectively; the Group appreciates the time and encouragement these 2 busy people give to the Group.  Paul Geldart , Chairman, Peter Randall, Vice-Chairman, and Wendy Randall were re-elected to their posts.  At the AGM no-one came forward to be Secretary but at a subsequent Committee meeting Colin Davenport agreed to take on the role and Mike O'Pray took over as Treasurer for the year.  The Committee was completed by David Baker, Ken Barton, and Annette Dunn.  There is a vacancy on the Committee so if you wish to be a bit more involved with the Group, please contact the Secretary.

The 2010 Programme.  The 2010 programme setting out the topics of the monthly meetings can be viewed on the "Meetings and Events" page of this website. In addition your Committee is planning another Barn Dance, provisionally on June 12^th, after last year's very successful event.  A coffee morning with book sale will be held in July or August.  Details for both events will be announced later.  The Group's website at www.daventry-and-district.diabetesukgroup.org is well worth a regular visit to keep up to date with what is happening.  We look forward to seeing you at both meetings and events.

Can you help?  We would like to reduce our costs so if you have an e-mail address and would be prepared to receive information and newsletters in this way rather than by post, perhaps you could let the Secretary know.
